The Translational Ophthalmology Research Center was initially established as the Ophthalmology Research Center affiliated with Tehran University of Medical Sciences and Health Services. In 2002 (1381 in the Iranian calendar), it received its initial approval for operation from the Council for the Expansion of Medical Universities and officially began its activities in ophthalmology research. The Ophthalmic Nursing Journal began its publication in 2011 under the editorial leadership of Dr. Seyed Farzad Mohammadi. Each issue of the journal includes sections such as the introduction of specific eye diseases or complications, epidemiology of eye diseases, a series of optometry essentials for nurses, as well as the definition of terms and a Q&A section. Educational points are highlighted on the front and back covers of the journal, and these are elaborated upon in the content. Additionally, each issue features an appendix in the form of a poster, booklet, or clinical guide.

The Archives of Persian Ophthalmology (APO) is an open-access resource of narrative reviews and expert content articles on locally generated and applicable ophthalmic knowledge.
APO is a ‘publish per commissioned article’ journal that recruit authors for a series of commissioned topics on ophthalmology. Independent subjects and paper submissions are welcomed as far as being compatible with the APO approach in local knowledge synthesis and translation.
