A two-day national workshop on the development of service packages for the ‘Poursan Program’ was held on June 9–10, 2026, at Zanjan University of Medical Sciences, bringing together senior officials and experts from the Ministry of Health, medical universities, and various non-communicable disease NCD programs across the country.

At this national event, Dr. Seyed Farzad Mohammadi, Deputy Director of the DCORC, Dr. Najmeh Bahmanziari, faculty member of the DCORC, and Ms. Tahereh Merajipour, an expert from the Office of Eye Health and Blindness Prevention, actively participated as representatives of the Ministry of Health’s Office of Eye Health and Blindness Prevention. They contributed to the expert working groups responsible for developing and refining service packages within the framework of the Poursan Program.

During the workshop, two priority service packages in the field of eye health were developed: “Refractive Eye Health Examination for Children Aged 4–5 Years and “Strengthening Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) Screening through a Hybrid Model of In-Person Examination and Teleophthalmology. Furthermore, the feasibility and potential strategies for strengthening congenital cataract screening during the neonatal period were critically explored and discussed.

The workshop was organized with the objective of designing and standardizing service packages within the national Poursan Program and enhancing the quality of preventive and control services for non-communicable diseases. The outcomes of this initiative are expected to contribute to the advancement of national eye health programs and blindness prevention strategies in Iran.
